NZ Newswire logoNZ Newswire 8/09/2016

The National Party's rap battle with musician Eminem's publisher over the use of a song in a campaign ad has been set down for next year.

US-based Eight Mile Style and Martin Affiliated are suing National over the use of the rapper's song "Lose Yourself" in a 2014 election campaign video.

The party has previously said it got proper permission to use the song, but the publishers claim they never allowed it to be used in a political campaign.

The trial will begin at the Wellington High Court on May 1 and has been set down for three weeks.
