Police divers are combing a Waikato lake for signs of missing woman, Kim Richardson, who disappeared from her home just under one year ago.

Ms Richardson left her Arohena farm, west of Tokoroa, in her silver Ford Ranger utility on July 31, 2016, and has not been seen since.

The circumstances of her early morning departure were completely out of character, police and family said at the time.

While police now believe Ms Richardson is dead, the case remains open with divers on Tuesday searching nearby Lake Arapuni, .

"Though time has quickly slipped away, we are still keen to hear from anyone who has information relating to Kim's disappearance as we are committed to bringing her family some closure," Detective Senior Sergeant Patterson said.

While police have not been able to track down Ms Richmond's Ford Ranger (registration HKD553), two bank cards and a farm card belonging to her were discovered near State Highway 46, south of Lake Taupo, several months after her disappearance.
