$300m for emergency housing: Key

The government will spend $300 million investing in new emergency housing, Prime Minister John Key has announced.

The funding includes a $100 million loan to Housing New Zealand to be repaid within 10 years.

It's expected to create 1400 extra places for those in need, Mr Key said.
