Manly suffered double pain at Leichhardt Oval on Sunday, blowing a chance to enter the top four and losing rising centre Brad Parker for the year.

Parker suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament running the ball out from his own line late in the game.

The young centre coughed the ball up as his knee buckled in the tackle, resulting in a knock-on and scrum feed to the Tigers 10m out.

The home side scored a few plays later to seal a come-from-behind 30-26 victory after trailing 20-6 at the break.

The loss meant Manly finished round 23 in seventh position. A win would have placed them fourth with three rounds left.

“Disappointing is an understatement. We just didn’t manage the second half,” coach Trent Barrett said.

“Considering what we had to play for it was very disappointing.

“That hurts. There’s a quagmire of teams (chasing top eight and fourth berths) and every game counts.

“We got hurt in a pretty bad way.”

Hooker Api Koroisau added: “We needed the two points sitting where we are.

“We were sitting in a good position at half time but we lost that ourselves.

“We really shot ourselves in the foot.”
