University student Bryony Freestone was on a conservation trip with friends when the horrible accident occurred. Rescuers attempt to revive the young woman on the beach but to no avail.

Bryony’s twin sister Sophie posted a heartbreaking tribute to her sister on Facebook which read:  ‘there’s nothing I wouldn’t do to have you back – my beautiful Bryony xxxx.’

The Metro reports a British Foreign Office spokesman said: ‘We are supporting the family of a British National who sadly died in Thailand on August 14.’

Bryony was a first year student at Exeter University’s Penryn campus in Cornwall and was originally from Little Houghton. Her death comes just hours after a German tourist drowned off the coast of the same island.

Ko Chang is the second largest Thai island after Phuket and is famous for it’s coral reefs, waterfalls and rainforests. It’s also known as Elephant Island.
