A McLaren supercar has crashed in west Auckland.

Police have confirmed a car crashed 150m from the Point Chevalier ramp of the Northwestern Motorway shortly before 1pm on Saturday but did not say what make it was.

One person has moderate injuries.

A witness told the NZ Herald a black McLaren was in a ditch upside down.

In December, businessman Barry Leigh Fitzgerald, 63, of Melbourne, crashed a multimillion-dollar McLaren F1 on the Glenorchy-Queenstown Road.

He was taking part in a tour of New Zealand by 31 McLaren cars honouring the late Bruce McLaren, the manufacturer's Kiwi founder.
