Duncan Garner © Getty Duncan Garner Duncan Garner will be the new host of TV3's morning show, which will replace Paul Henry, MediaWorks announced on Thursday afternoon.

The name will change to The AM Show and will run from 6-9am on weekdays.

"Paul is a brilliant broadcaster who has changed the game in the mornings - I'm looking forward to building on that," said Garner.

"Our new show will be warm, seriously smart, irreverent and funny. I can't wait to rip into it."

Henry said he's only leaving because he's over the 2:30am alarms.

"It is true... I've been thinking about semi-retirement for quite some time... I just can't keep getting up in the middle of the night," Henry said in a video posted to the show's Facebook page.

Garner's current show, Story, is also being ditched for another 7pm programme that will now be called The Project, and is said to be a mix of current affairs and entertainment.

The hosts are yet to be announced, but Henry will be a guest, among others such as Newshub journalists and presenters, comedians, sport, political and other personalities.
