Dunedin Railways workers have said they will strike for 24-hours on November 25.

Formerly known as Taieri Gorge Railway, Dunedin Railways staff have been in talks since July, and said a third of their members of the Rail and Maritime Transport Union (RMTU) are paid below the living wage of $19.80 per hour.

"We are claiming a 4 per cent increase in the first year of a two year deal, with a further 2 per cent in the second year ... passenger numbers and revenue are increasing, it's time the employer did the right thing by the workers," said RMTU General Secretary Wayne Butson.
