The Dutch royal couple will get a small reminder of home on the second of their three-day state visit to New Zealand.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima's itinerary takes them to Christchurch on Tuesday, when a meeting with members of the local Dutch community is on the afternoon programme.

Earlier in the day, the royal couple will see the kiwi breeding programme at Willowbank Wildlife Reserve and then visit Tuahiwi Marae.

They will also be taken around the central business district to view the rebuild of the city after the devastating 2011 earthquake.
