Dzeko finally hits the mark for Roma

Edin Dzeko missed a penalty, hit the crossbar and then finally scored his 18th goal of the season to secure Roma three points away to Crotone.

Roma beat Crotone 2-0 with the league's top scorer Edin Dzeko on target to stay second in Serie A.

Radja Nainggolan raced in the box to find the far corner on 40 minutes after Dzeko missed a penalty.

The Bosnian striker then had a shot deflected against the bar and on 77 minutes scored his 18th goal of the season, flicking in off Mohamed Salah.

Roma are now two points ahead of Napoli, who had leapfrogged them by winning 2-0 Friday at Genoa.

In other action, Inter Milan beat visiting Empoli 2-0, opening the scoring with a close-range deflection from Eder, who after the break crossed for Antonio Candreva's winning volley.

The Nerazzurri are fourth with a better goal difference than Atalanta, who won 3-1 at Palermo.

Torino pummelled bottom side Pescara 5-3, with Andrea Belotti netting his side's third and fifth goals to take his season tally to 17, and Ahmad Benali also scored a brace after his side fell five goals down.

Chievo's Roberto Inglese did better with a hat-trick that a Chievo's 3-1 win at 10-man Sassuolo. The striker missed an early penalty after Timo Letschert was dismissed for fouling him and saw the hosts go ahead from Alessandro Matri's flick.

But Inglese nodded home a 39th-minute equaliser, striking after the break with a goalmouth flick and another header.

Fiorentina beat Udinese 3-0 Saturday to go seventh, with a better goal difference than AC Milan, who play Monday at Lazio.
