Ed Sheeran fans who missed out on tickets to his five already-confirmed New Zealand gigs have one last opportunity to see the popular singer.

Frontier Touring Australia, who are bringing Sheeran Down Under, announced on Friday that tickets to his sixth and final show, at Dunedin's Forsyth Barr Stadium on April 1, will go on sale on June 1 at 1pm.

Sheeran will play at Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland on March 24, 25 and 26 and in Dunedin on March 29, 31 and April 1.

About 250,000 people were expected to see him perform if his third Dunedin show sold out.

Sheeran's tour will start in Australia exactly one year after the release of his third album, Divide, which went to number one in charts around the world.

The British singer-songwriter was in Australia in February on a short promotional tour before the release of his album, during which he performed a one-off gig in the Sydney Opera House.

Since then, Sheeran has been touring stadiums in Europe, and will perform across North America and Latin America before he hits Australia.

He admitted in a recent interview on BBC radio show Desert Island Discs that he spent part of his year away from the music business in 2016 backpacking around Australia and New Zealand.
