New Zealand have crashed back to reality at the women's squash world team championship in Paris, beaten 3-0 by top seeds Egypt.

Having opened with a 3-0 trouncing of Mexico, the Kiwi team had no answer against an Egypt combination featuring three of the world's top four players.

With Kiwi No.1 Joelle King sitting out the tie, her team failed to win a game.

Megan Craig went down to world No.1 Nour El Sherbini 11-6 12-10 11-3.

There were also losses for Amanda Landers-Murphy and the promoted Emma Miller.

The eighth-seeded New Zealanders face ninth seeds India in their pool's decisive tie on Wednesday.

India's results mirror New Zealand's, meaning the winners will advance as the pool's second team to the round of 16.
