Engineers to check bridge after crash

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 9/05/2016

Structural engineers will be assessing an Auckland motorway overbridge after a truck carrying a digger in a trailer hit the structure.

The crash which caused the truck to topple over on the Southern Motorway on Monday afternoon closed all southbound lanes, however the left lane is now reopen to traffic.

No one was hurt in the crash but there are large delays for motorists.

The structural integrity of the overbridge will be checked by engineers, with the New Zealand Transport Agency unable to say when all lanes are to be reopened.

Heavy vehicles are being prevented from using the bridge until it is deemed safe.
