England coach Jones guns for NZ's top spot

England rugby coach Eddie Jones has set his sights on the All Blacks' world rankings crown, saying his side was capable of becoming the world's best.

The Australian-born coach is gunning for an Australian tour clean sweep after his team secured the three-match series with a gutsy 23-7 win over the Wallabies in Melbourne.

England won't face the All Blacks in a series until 2018, but Jones told reporters in Sydney that his side would strive to topple them in the world rugby rankings.

England leapfrogged Australia to claim second place in the rankings after defeating the Wallabies twice, but remains well off New Zealand in top spot.

"New Zealand has been up there all the time and it's about time someone put a real challenge and we're going to be the side that puts a challenge to them," Jones said.

The third test, to be played in Sydney on Saturday, would be "like a World Cup final" for England.

"To win a World Cup you've got to win three big games in a row," Jones said.

"You've got the quarter-final, semi-final and final, so it's a great dress rehearsal for us."
