English and Puna to meet in Rarotonga

Prime Minister Bill English © Hagen Hopkins/Getty Images Prime Minister Bill English Cook Islands Prime Minister Henry Puna was on hand to welcome his Kiwi counterpart, Bill English, to the island nation ahead of a packed day of events.

Mr English and his delegation touched down in Rarotonga on Monday night, local time.

Mr English and Mr Puna are expected to discuss environmental, security and economic issues on Tuesday as well as the upcoming Pacific Islands Forum.

"We'll be visiting a number of projects and programmes funded by New Zealand aid, including renewable energy projects, police headquarters and sporting facilities, and making a number of announcements," Mr English said of his trip, which also includes Niue and Tonga.

He's joined by Foreign Minister Gerry Brownlee, Pacific Peoples Minister Alfred Ngaro and a delegation of business and community leaders.
