New Zealander Marina Erakovic has made it through the main draw at the WTA tournament in Morocco after a hard-fought final qualifying match.

The world No.186 downed Spain's Georgina Garcia Perez, a player ranked 100 places below her, 4-6 6-4 6-3 in two hours 13 minutes.

In the opening round of the clay tournament in Rabat, the 28-year-old Erakovic will face Romanian Andreea Mitu, who is ranked 110th.

It will be her first appearance in the main draw of a WTA event since she made the second round in Rio de Janeiro in February.

After an injury-hit 12 months, which included a lengthy spell out with a knee problem, Erakovic's successful run through qualifying was the first time she had strung three wins together since Birmingham last June.

She is also involved in doubles this week with Slovakia's Daniela Hantuchova and the pair's first-round opponents are No.2-seeded Australian sisters Anastasia and Arina Rodionova.
