The 153rd-ranked New Zealander paid for a slew of errors, beaten 6-2 6-2 by Spanish 12th seed Carla Suarez Navarro in just over an hour.

A heavy schedule caught up Erakovic, who won through three rounds of qualifying before spending five total hours on court through her first two matches. American Irina Falconi and former world No.1 Jelena Jankovic of Serbia were both beaten in long three-set matches.

Suaraz Navarro managed 21 winners with 14 unforced errors while Erakovic's statistics on Friday were the opposite, mixing 11 winners and had 27 unforced errors.

Erakovic, 28, has never reached the fourth round of a grand slam tournament. She has exited three times in the third round at Wimbledon and once at the French Open.

Her world ranking is expected improve by 40-50 places, having slumped over the last 12 months as she battled injury and poor form.
