Espanyol have beaten Las Palmas 4-3 in Spain's La Liga soccer.

Espanyol edged a seven-goal thriller as they beat Las Palmas 4-3 on Saturday (AEDT) at home in La Liga.

David Lopez opened the scoring in the first minute with a header from Jose Manuel Jurado's corner.

Las Palmas pushed for an equaliser with Alen Halilovic pulling the strings in midfield, but Diego Lopez was untroubled by tame efforts from Kevin-Prince Boateng and Jonathan Viera.

At the other end Gerard Moreno wasted a good chance when Felipe Caicedo played him in, firing a strike straight at Raul Lizoain.

He was made to regret it soon after, with Lemos blasting home the equaliser from more than 35 yards in the 30th minute, although Lopez should have kept it out.

Moreno made amends for his miss in first-half stoppage time, smashing a strike home after Pablo Piatti's cut-back found him well placed in the box.

Piatti added Espanyol's third himself, bagging his ninth goal of the season from the penalty spot after Lizoain dragged down Caicedo and was lucky to only be booked for the foul.

Jurado sent Espanyol further ahead in the 74th minute when he raced through on to Moreno's pass and slotted home coolly, before Mateo Ezequiel Garciad pulled one back after good work by Halilovic.

It set up a frantic finale but the Pericos held on to stay ninth on 39 points after 27 games, while Las Palmas remain 12th, with 32.
