Evans struggles in Silverstone sprint race

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 10/07/2016

New Zealand driver Mitch Evans has lost ground in a tightly-fought GP2 series after finishing 13th in the sprint race at Silverstone in England.

Evans fell four places to fifth after five rounds of the 11-leg series, although he is just nine points behind British leader Oliver Rowland.

The Kiwi 22-year-old was second and just two points off top spot after placing fourth in Saturday's feature race.

However, fading tyres and an off-track detour on the final lap in the 21-lap sprint event left the Pertamina Campos team driver nearly 30sec behind British race winner Jordan King.
