Ex-Bronco Wallace key player for Titans

Gold Coast have turned to Brisbane defector Jarrod Wallace for inside information as they seeks ways to fix a miserable recent record in NRL clashes with the Broncos.

The smattering of players who have moved between the two clubs adds extra spice to Friday's match.

But the Titans main concern is simply snapping a streak of five-straight losses to their south Queensland neighbours - and 10 straight when played at Suncorp Stadium.

Co-captain Ryan James said the Titans had been picking the brains of their former Broncos, particularly newest arrival Jarrod Wallace.

"Jarrod was only there last year so he still knows the gist of their plays and what they're doing," said James on Thursday.

Prop Wallace will likely have a point to make on the field too, having joined the Titans this season seeking more starting opportunities after playing 73 games, but only 10 as a starter, over five seasons for the Broncos.

In Brisbane he found himself behind representative stars Sam Thaiday, Adam Blair and Josh McGuire.

"We've got a couple of their ex-players and they're ready to step up for the game," said James.

Recent tight losses to Brisbane and defecting players on both teams would make for a tense match, James predicted.

Last year's 44-28 elimination final loss to the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium cut especially deep, especially as it was marked with some controversial refereeing calls against the Titans.

"It was tough. I held onto that one for a while and I've had to let it go," said James.

"There's probably not too many of us who were in that side last year but it's definitely in the past now. "

The Titans were heading Brisbane a day ahead of the match but coach Neil Henry insisted that had more to do with coping with Easter traffic on the M1 than any special team-bonding plan.
