Extra money in budget for Maori housing

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 9/05/2016

There'll be a $12.6 million funding boost in this month's budget to help more Maori into safe, secure, healthy homes.

Maori Development Minister Te Ururoa Flavell says the extra money over four years will allow the Maori Housing Network, run by Te Puni Kokiri, to help more whanau in need.

The network, launched last year, provides funding for new homes and housing repairs for whanau.

It also works to develop the Maori housing sector in areas of high housing need.
