Far North power to be restored

NZ Newswire logoNZ Newswire 7/12/2016

Transpower have undertaken repairs which will restore power to 32,000 electricity users north of Kaikohe earlier than predicted.

It announced power would be progressively restored from 2pm on Thursday, and earlier than the projected 6pm time frame.

Northland police confirmed they are looking into the possible shooting up of three national grid pylons which cut the power just before 3am.

The replacement insulators have been flown in from Wellsford, north of Auckland.

Vodafone said the power cut has hit a number of its cellphone towers, affecting coverage around Northlanad.
