Farm gear stolen during storm

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 28/05/2016

Firearms and tools have been stolen from two rural properties near Invercargill.

The burglaries occurred on Friday night and police want to hear about people trying to sell farm equipment or firearms in the region or anyone who saw or heard suspicious vehicles at rural properties near Invercargill overnight.

"Dark and windy nights can conceal an offenders' movements, so it is beneficial for people to install security lighting and keep an eye out for any suspicious behaviour or people who look out of place," says Sergeant Phil Hamlin from the Southern District Command Centre.

"We need to remind people to be diligent and ensure everything is locked and secure, including all sheds and outbuildings," he said.
