FFA Cup minnows to face champions City

Melbourne City will open their FFA Cup defence on the road against Queensland debutants Peninsula Power in a round of 32 featuring six other tournament first-timers.

The draw for the cup's fourth instalment was held on Thursday, sending reigning A-League champions and 2016 FFA Cup finalists Sydney FC to the Northern Territory to face Darwin Rovers FC while Perth will head to Victoria to take on Heidelberg United.

Last year's NPL champions, Sydney United, are off to north Queensland to play FNQ Heat and Brisbane will host Melbourne Victory in a top-flight showdown.
