The Hamilton County Bluegrass band, who've been playing since the 1960s, is up for an award at 2017 Golden Guitar Awards.

The Hamilton County Bluegrass Band's new album, These Old Hands, contains their first new music in almost 10 years.

They're finalists for Best Country Music Album in the Country Music Awards to be presented at 2017 Golden Guitar Awards in Gore on June 1, alongside Wanaka native Jody Direen and Phil Doublet.

The Gold Guitar Awards have been running for more than 40 years, and artists like Jools Topp, Marlon Williams and Tami Neilson have taken out previous awards.
