Firefighters called out to Treasury

Fire crews called out to The Treasury building in central Wellington are being stood down after being unable to locate the source of a burning smell.

A Fire Service spokeswoman says it is believed the smell came from outside the building in The Terrace and through the air-conditioning.

Emergency services were alerted about 5.40pm on Monday after reports of a burning smell on two lower levels and after sprinklers were activated on Level 15.
