Fog at Auckland Airport lifts

Fog has lifted at Auckland Airport after 84 domestic flights were cancelled or delayed and one flight from Brisbane was diverted to Wellington.

The airport said fog restrictions were lifted around 12.30pm on Saturday.

That as after 42 domestic flights were delayed and 42 were cancelled due to the fog.

One international flight from Brisbane was diverted to Wellington. It will fly to Auckland this afternoon.

A Jetstar spokeswoman says the airline has 12 regional flights in total affected. She couldn't give a number of passengers affected but the planes to regional destinations typically had a capacity of up to 50 people.

The fog was forecast to get "washed out" about midday by showers approaching from the west, according to MetService.

Fog also hit the airport on Thursday, disrupting about 100 regional flights.
