Foliage report: Some color in north and higher elevations

Associated Press Associated Press 16/09/2016

MONTPELIER, Vt. — The Vermont Department of Tourism says Vermont's foliage is starting to change color in the north and higher elevations.

The state's foliage report on Wednesday said most of Vermont's forests are very green and still in the earliest stages of color development.

In this early stage of the foliage season, leaf-peepers are urged to visit the Northeast Kingdom.

The Tourism Department says the leaves generally start to change color higher, cooler areas of the Green Mountains, spreading down into the Lake Champlain Valley and Connecticut River Valley, and moving from north to south across the state.
