Forrest Hill Milford United have won soccer's New Zealand women's Knockout Cup with a dramatic 4-3 penalty shoot-out win over Glenfield Rovers in Auckland on Sunday.

Defending champions Glenfield dominated the opening exchanges, skipper Liz Milne putting them ahead in the 17th minute when she slotted in a low shot from outside the box.

Forrest Hill captain Tessa Berger levelled the scores in the 52nd minute when she lobbed a long range shot from from 40 metres out over the head of Glenfield keeper Alice Noyer.

Neither team could add to their tally in regulation time but Milne looked to have delivered the decisive goal in the 102nd minute when she hit a powerful left foot strike past Forrest Hill keeper Emily Couchman for a 2-1 lead.

But Forrest Hill equalised eight minutes later when Emma Rolston finished off from close range.

When it came to the penalty shootout, it was Tayla Christensen's cool finish from the spot which proved decisive for Forrest Hill.
