NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 28/07/2016

Four children have been hurt after their school bus crashed into a power pole amid blustery winds near Dannevirke.

The four suffered minor injuries when the bus, carrying about 14 students, hit the pole on Top Grass Road on Friday morning, police say.

They were checked out by medical staff and the other students were taken to school. The bus driver was not hurt.

"The cause of the crash is not yet known but there have been strong winds in the area and there are severe weather warnings in place for gales across the North Island," police said in a statement.
