Four people have been injured in two separate car accidents in the early hours of Saturday morning.

One man is in Middlemore Hospital in a critical condition with serious head injuries after he crashed his car through a fence and hit a power pole in Waiuku around 2am.

The crash brought down power lines on Waiuku Rd, which then started a small fire in the area.

Around 6.30am on Saturday, three people were injured after their car hit a tree in Glen Innes, Auckland.

Fire crews had to cut one person out of the car on Overlea Road.

All three have been taken to Auckland City Hospital, one in a serious condition.
