Kiwi golfer Ryan Fox has enjoyed a return to form on the European Tour to improve to 13th place at the midway point of a tournament in Austria.

Fox mixed four birdies with two bogeys at the Lyoness Open in Atzenbrugg on his way to a two-under 70 in the second round.

He sits alongside nine others on three-under, six strokes behind Chilean leader Felipe Aguilar.

New Zealand No.3 Fox has struggled for form this season since a run of good early results in Australia and the Middle East.

He has missed four cuts in his last 10 tournaments and failed to finish in the top-20 of any of them.

His world ranking has slipped to 168th while he is outside the top-100 in the European Tour's "Race to Dubai" money standings.
