Ryan Fox put a mid-round slump behind him to be fourth with two rounds to play at a Challenge Tour event in the United Arab Emirates.

The New Zealand golfer shot three successive bogeys from hole nine but made amends with seven birdies elsewhere to card a four-under 68 in his second round to be nine-under.

He is two shots shy of French leader Romain Langasque at the Al Hamra Golf Club in Ras Al Khaimah.

Fox is virtually assured of qualifying for next year's European Tour but is leaving nothing to chance after narrowly falling short last year.

The 29-year-old has produced two fourth-placed finishes on the secondary tour in October to climb to fourth on its money list.

The leading 15 golfers after next week's tour finale in Oman will earn European Tour cards.
