Ryan Fox suffered the first forgettable round of his European Tour season, plunging to a 64th-placed finish at the Qatar Masters.

The Kiwi No.2 closed with a six-over 78 at Doha Golf Course to drop 46 places, finishing 15 strokes off the pace on one-under.

A curious round on Sunday featured not a single bogey. He mixed two birdies with four double-bogeys.

Fox had placed ninth and 19th in his first two tournaments as a fully fledged European Tour player.

He dips to 38th on the Race To Dubai rankings, with season earnings of 61,836 euros.

The Qatar tournament was decided in a three-man play-off, where Korean Jeunghun Wang birdied the par-five 18th hole to see off Swede Joakim Lagergren and South African Jaco Van Zyl.
