Franklin caught short on 99

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 5/07/2016

Former Black Caps allrounder James Franklin has fallen just short of his 22nd first class century, caught on 99 as Middlesex eked out a 64-run lead over Yorkshire in an English county cricket match at Scarborough.

Franklin hit 10 fours and two sixes on the third day as Middlesex reached 470 in reply to Yorkshire's 406 all out.

The Middlesex skipper put on a 172-run partnership with Stevie Eskinazi (157) for the fifth wicket, batting through until he top-edged a pull to cover where Black Caps skipper Kane Williamson took the catch.

Franklin featured earlier with the ball, his 3-62 including the wicket of Williamson for 28 and a sharp caught and bowled to dismiss Zimbabwean Gary Ballance for 132.
