Wellington's not above bribery when it comes to attracting the world's best tech industry talent.

Free flights, accommodation and sightseeing are on offer to 100 people willing to come to New Zealand for a week of job interviews in the capital next month.

Wellington Mayor Justin Lester is calling the LookSee Wellington campaign the "career trip of a lifetime".

"Our tech and innovation industry is flying along and we need more people," he said in a video promoting the offer from the Wellington Regional Economic Development Agency.

"But not just anyone, we need and want the best so we're looking for tech talent from all over the world to become part of what we think is one of the greatest tech and innovation hubs on the planet."

Already companies including Xero and Weta Digital have signed up to interview candidates, while there's reportedly been interest from employees working for some of the world's biggest tech companies, including Silicon Valley.

To win one of the spots employees have to register and upload their CV, and possibly complete a video interview.

Employers will be able to nominate those they'd like to meet with in Wellington and the 100 most nominated people will be invited to the city this month.

As well as job interviews the programme involves meet-ups and sightseeing.
