Gal plans a beer with Gus after Origin

NZN 6/07/2016 James MacSmith

Gal would love to have a beer with Gus, because Gus isn't his mate ... right now anyway.

Retiring NSW skipper Paul Gallen has indicated he would like to clear the air with Blues coaching great after he plays his final State of Origin match.

Gould has been a strident critic of Gallen, who plays his final interstate match on Wednesday week, for the past two seasons.

Blues coaching great Gould stepped up the criticism following the Blues series loss last month as he labelled NSW's leadership "selfish".

Gallen said he is keen to sit down with Gould and talk some issues through.

"I am open to sitting down with Gus I have no issue there whatsoever," Gallen said.

"I am sure he might find me on OK guy and I might find him on OK guy too, if we ever get the chance to sit down.

"But he has a job to do in the media and I have to remember that as well, he is more than qualified to express his opinion too."

Blues prop Aaron Woods said Gallen deserves to be commended for his service to the NSW.

"I think people should respect what he has done," Woods said.

"He has put his heart and soul into it and I hope the fans show their appreciation for that next week.

"Gal's last game means a lot to us and hopefully we can send him out a winner."
