Denis Solomon, 31, was this month charged with murdering 24-year-old Clayton Ratima, who was dropped off at Middlemore Hospital in February and died a few days later.

Suppression on Solomon's name was lifted in the High Court at Auckland on Wednesday.

A second man arrested over the killing, aged 32, had an interim suppression on his name extended until a hearing next week.

Both men entered pleas of not guilty and a three-week trial has been set for September next year.

Police at the time said Mr Ratima was a gang associate and prospect and had been severely beaten at the Tribesmen Motorcycle gang headquarters in Otara.
