Gautrey second at youth sailing worlds

Consistency is paying off for Kiwi sailor George Gautrey at the youth world championships in Auckland.

Gautrey shares second place in the boys Laser Radial class after two days of competition off Torbay, having improved from his overnight third.

Light, unpredictable winds didn't stop Gautrey recording fifth and eighth-placed finishes in his two races to be level with Croat Dominik Perkovic. They sit just two points behind Danish leader Patrick Doepping.

The next-best of eight Kiwi crews competing at the five-day regatta are girls 29er pair Greta and Kate Stewart, who climbed three spots to fourth overall.

Nacra 15 boys pair Jackson Keon and Tom Fyfe dropped from second to fifth.

Great Britain lead the overall Nations Trophy standings, with New Zealand sixth.
