German attempted murder accused named

The German man who's been charged with attempted murder of his girlfriend by driving a car off a cliff in Cromwell can now be named.

Jan Falke, 20, is facing several charges including attempted murder, but did not enter a plea when he appeared via video link in Dunedin High Court on Tuesday morning,

He will be reappearing on March 2.

Police say the couple left a campsite at Champagne Gully and were driving towards Cromwell on January 22 when Falke attempted to drive off the cliff.
