Goalie blunder costs Osasuna in La Liga

A mistake from Osasuna goalkeeper Mario Fernandez has allowed Malaga to snatch a 1-1 draw in their La Liga clash.

Osasuna goalkeeper Mario Fernandez went from hero to zero in the 1-1 draw against Malaga.

After saving a Michael Santos penalty in the first half, which he provoked by fouling the striker, his rash error allowed Ignacio Camacho to cancel out Goran Causic's goal and level the scores in the second half.

The game was a dour affair, hampered by the poor state of the pitch at El Sadar.

Osasuna's Oriol Riera missed an early chance while Chory Castro did the same at the other end before Mario uprooted Santos in the area in the 18th minute with a clumsy trip.

However the goalkeeper made instant amends by diving low to his right to parry the forward's spot kick and keep the score level.

Eventually Causic broke the deadlock in the 76th minute after Kenan Kodro cut the ball back to him around 12 yards out.

But just three minutes later Mario rushed out to collect a long throw but failed to make it and Camacho headed home.

The result puts Malaga 13th and Osasuna 19th, up from the bottom of the table, ahead of the rest of the weekend's fixtures.
