Golf club raids spark security call

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 2/07/2016

Golf clubs are being told to improve their security systems after a spate of thefts from clubs in the south.

In East Taieri firewood and a log splitter were taken from a golf club, while in Balclutha a welder and tools were stolen.

Cash has also been taken from fees boxes in Clydevale, Alexandra and Oamaru.

Senior Sergeant Al Dickie is encouraging golf clubs to review their security measures, which should include sensor lights, cameras, alarms and locks.

Police want to hear from members of the public who see suspicious activity around golf courses.
