Queensland golfer Katherine Kirk's slide down the Australian Open leaderboard is continuing early in her final round at Royal Adelaide.

Kirk led the field after an opening-round 65 but following rounds of 74 and 80 cruelled her chances of claiming the title.

On Sunday, Kirk has slipped a further shot adrift after two more bogeys, punctuated by a birdie, in her initial four holes.

Kirk is now one-over for the tournament, 11 strokes behind the leader, American Lizette Salas, who tees off in the afternoon.

Australians Su Oh and Sarah Jane Smith are eight-under and tied for second ahead of their afternoon tee off times.

Compatriots Minjee Lee, Hannah Green and Rebecca Artis are three-under ahead of their final rounds.

Japan's defending champion Haru Nomura is also in the hunt for consecutive Australian Open wins - she'll start her final round at six-under.
