New Zealand first five-eighth Jimmy Gopperth is on a five-man shortlist to be named Player's Player of the Year in English rugby.

Gopperth is one of three Wasps players in contention in a nod to the team's stellar form this season that has propelled them to the top of the Premiership.

Wasps wingers Elliot Daly and Christian Wade are also nominated for the awards next Wednesday. The other two are Northampton Saints forward Louis Picamoles and Saracens first five-eighth Owen Farrell.

Gopperth leads the Premiership points tally with 256.

The 33-year-old left New Zealand rugby in 2009, having played four Super Rugby seasons with the Hurricanes and one with the Blues.

He had stints with Newcastle and Leinster before joining Wasps in 2015.
