Grant, Greenberg to front media

Besieged ARL commission chairman John Grant is expected to face questions about the NRL clubs' calls for his resignation when he fronts media on Friday afternoon.

Grant and NRL CEO Todd Greenberg have called a 4pm media conference at Rugby league Central, saying they'll be available to comment on "the progress of club licence negotiations".

The clubs on Thursday gave a vote of no-confidence in Grant, with 15 of 16 clubs reportedly involved in a letter sent to the commission calling for him to step down.

They were angered when the ARLC reportedly retracted an earlier in-principle agreement to provide 130 per cent of the salary cap in club funding from 2018.

The clubs say the matter of dividing up money from the new broadcast agreement has already gone on far too long and they also want to gain two seats on the commission to ensure their voice is heard.

The commission says it wants to settle the collective bargaining agreement and salary cap before finalising the club funding.
