Greens co-leader Metiria Turei © RNZ Greens co-leader Metiria Turei The Greens are putting up an ambitious transport plan for Wellington including discounted fares and electric bus and car fleets.

It's part of their local body election campaign and they're launching it on Tuesday evening.

The party says its candidates will bring on "an electric revolution" if they're re-elected.

They'll propose a 25 per cent discount on off-peak bus fares and a 50 per cent discount for students.

They want more central city and suburban green spaces, free Wifi in all transport hubs, modern electric buses within 10 years and light rail development.
