Police received reports gunfire had been heard in Spencer Street in the suburb of Addington at around 3am on Sunday.

When they arrived, they found an injured 21-year-old man who had been assaulted. He was taken to hospital but has since been discharged.

Shell casings from a gun were also found at the address, but no one appears to have been shot, police say.

Police had earlier visited the property at around 9.30pm on Saturday following a noise complaint. They shut down the party and arrested one person for obstruction and resisting arrest.

Police have closed down a section of Fielding Street, between Spencer Street and Parlane Street, for a scene examination.
