After a short break following the tour of India, Northern Districts welcome back Corey Anderson, Anton Devcich, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi and Tim Southee for their Plunket Shield match against Canterbury in Hamilton.

Otago allrounder Jimmy Neesham and Central Districts return for a round three match in Dunedin.

Plenty of attention will centre on Eden Park Outer Oval when Guptill's Auckland host Wellington.

The Test opener is under intense pressure to retain his spot after a lean run in the five-day format continued in the 3-0 series loss to India.

The 30-year-old gets a last chance to state his case before the New Zealand squad for two home Tests against Pakistan is named.

Guptill says he isn't thinking about the implications when the defending champions host the early competition leaders.

"I'm just after some time in the middle and to do what I can to help the Aces get another win in the Plunket Shield," he said.
