Harris double decisive for Team Wellington

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 9/04/2016

New Zealand domestic champions Team Wellington have made a solid start to their Oceania Champions League campaign in Auckland, beating Suva 2-0.

English striker Ben Harris scored both goals in the last 20 minutes of a match which was dominated by the Kiwi club, who failed to capitalise on a wealth of chances.

In the other group B match, Hekari United of Papua New Guinea thumped AS Lossi of New Caledonia 5-1.

Group C matches on Sunday feature the first game for Auckland City, who are seeking a sixth successive title at the 12-team tournament to determine the premier club in the Oceania region.

The winners will contest the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan in December.

Last year Auckland City needed a penalty shootout to beat Team Wellington in a dramatic final in Suva.
