Harrison Ford uses checklists when flying

Yes, Hollywood actor Harrison Ford uses a checklist when he flies.

The Star Wars and Indiana Jones star was accompanied by an inquisitive teenager when he flew his DeHavilland Beaver on Thursday at the AirVenture Oshkosh 2016 air show.

His passenger, 16-year-old Jodie Gawthrop of Illinois, won the flight in a national contest through the Young Eagle program, which uses pilot and ground volunteers to introduce children to flying.

Ford, 74, took her flying to help celebrate the program reaching two million members.

He told reporters afterwards they spent time in the plane discussing what he was doing, including the step-by-step protocols that pilots follow.

"Jodie actually asked me if celebrities use checklists. I said, 'absolutely. They need them'."

Ford was badly injured last year when he crashed a vintage plane on a Los Angeles golf course after it had engine failure.

Asked on Thursday if he feels any residual hesitancy about flying after the accident, Ford joked, "I still can't play the violin."
